Raven Advisory LLC was started by Sheffield Ford as a consulting firm and quickly moved into providing various types of security for manufacturing & pharmaceutical companies and high-net worth individuals & families. Raven moved into the oil and gas industry introducing an American company into Northern Afghanistan and assisting with the establishment of gas turbines to provide electricity to over 250,000 homes. 

While continuing to grow Raven commercially, the decision was made to pursue US Government contracts.  Initial success was realized providing austere medical care also known as Pro-longed Field Care for Special Forces units conducting training rotations at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) in Louisianna. Sheffield was given the opportunity to purchase a small medical training company out of Fayetteville, NC providing more depth in past performance. Along with supporting various large contracts as a subcontractor and small contracts as a prime, Sheffield began to develop a training facility in Gibson, NC not far from Fort Bragg, now Fort Liberty.

Opportunity came to Sheffield in the middle of 2020 to purchase a well-known business, Gryphon Group Security Solutions. Sheffield developed a plan with friends from the oil and gas industry and seized the opportunity to purchase Gryphon Group in December 2020. Since purchasing Gryphon Group, Sheffield has reorganized Raven Advisory, and between the company and its subsidiaries, has created six different divisions or "business units" to maintain specialty skills in the products and services Raven Advisory offers. Sheffield has built a team and a business that is quickly growing and winning work both in the government and commercial sector.
